Semi-analytical method for solving stresses in slope under general loading conditions

Abstract Assessing the stress distribution within slope in geotechnical engineering is critical. Despite widely available numerical methods, no analytical solutions are for determining a under general loading conditions. This study presents method of analytically approximating elastic stresses arbitrary inclination subject to surcharges and supporting forces. The prototype model this problem equivalent superposition two sub-models: half-plane body subjected an initial earth field as well on crest (Model I) loaded by release caused excavation, together with forces its inclined surface bottom II). former can be calculated using Flamant’s solution, latter further thought being composed additional components: one infinite plane half-infinite hole virtual tractions upon hole’s boundary II 1 ), which approximated, other along ground 2 well. sets that lead Model iterative process. current approach provides approximations slopes sufficiently close exact ones accurate much.
